Sidework

Designed by Hannah Shackles, Senior Product Designer

The concept

Independent restaurant owners have data but no time to analyze it. Sidework is an AI growth assistant that does the analytical heavy lifting: it spots opportunities, explains the evidence, and drafts a campaign the owner can shape and approve. Less time analyzing. More time growing.

The prototype follows one complete journey: a dashboard flags an opportunity, the owner reviews the evidence, configures an offer, real AI generates the campaign copy, and the owner edits and approves a simulated launch with a measurement plan.

Key design decisions

Evidence before advice

Every recommendation shows the data behind it and separates what was observed from what Sidework infers.

Honest about uncertainty

One slow Tuesday is described as one observation, not a trend. Forecasts are never presented as guaranteed.

The owner stays in control

AI drafts the campaign; the owner edits, regenerates and must explicitly approve. Nothing is ever sent automatically.

Measure what matters

An optional holdout plan measures incremental impact, not just opens and clicks.

Try the prototype

Explore it yourself. June & Olive and all restaurant data are fictional; launches are simulated and no messages are sent.

Sidework is a fictional design exploration and is not affiliated with any restaurant software company.
